Leadership Team

Sean Durand

Head of Hybrid Electric Propulsion System

Sean Durand leads the Hybrid Propulsion Systems, driving the development of technologies that redefine efficiency and sustainability in aviation. With over 15 years of experience across aerospace and electric mobility, Sean combines deep technical expertise with a hands-on approach to solving complex challenges.

He spent more than a decade at Pratt & Whitney Canada, focusing on fuel systems, propeller systems, controls, and integration. During this time, Sean played a key role in the development and certification of the PT6E platform, including the PT6E-67XP powering the Pilatus PC-12 NGX. This program marked a major leap in turboprop technology, introducing digital engine control and advanced integration for improved performance and reliability.

Sean later served as Director of Powertrain for an electric powersports company, Taiga Motors, where he led the teams responsible for powertrain design and vehicle software, while providing strategic guidance instrumental in setting up both the certification and service teams. Sean’s contribution led to industry-first milestones in certifying the first production electric snowmobile and watercraft. His leadership philosophy centers on fundamentals, empowering teams to grow their expertise and lead with confidence. Looking ahead, Sean is committed to advancing hybrid propulsion as a cornerstone of sustainable aviation—delivering systems that reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and enable new aircraft capabilities. A lifelong racer, from go-karts through 700hp winged sprint cars, Sean brings the same competitive spirit and drive for performance to engineering innovation.
